Drishti

Steadiness, Presence, and Inner Focus

This week in my yoga classes, we’re exploring drishti—gaze, focus, and the way attention shapes our practice.

While drishti isn’t specifically named in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, it appears more than once in the Bhagavad Gita. In one teaching, Krishna guides Arjuna into meditation, saying:

“Hold your body and head erect in a straight line and stare steadily at the tip of the nose.” (Bhagavad Gita 6.13)

A reminder that where we place our gaze, and our awareness, can support steadiness, presence, and inner focus. In the yogic tradition, drishti is often understood as a focal point for the eyes. Thank you for reading my newsletter and for continuing to practice yoga with me. Here’s to a new year of steady breath, kind awareness, and showing up just as we are, on and off the mat.

Love, Katie
